Annual Meeting 2011

The 24th meeting of the Society, April 15—17, was properly held in the historic city of Philadelphia, home not only of our Constitution but of many notable ophthalmologists, past and present, including the author of the first book of ophthalmology in the US George Frick who graduated here [for more details see Dan Albert’s A History of Ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania]. In addition, our venue was the historic headquarter of the Union League built in 1865 in support of Lincoln and the Union, a beauti-ful house full with portraits, memorabilia, and thousands of books about the civil war.....More

The Cogan Ophthalmic History Society provides a scholarly forum for presentation and discussion of research on the history of ophthalmology and its associated fields. Organized in memory of David Glendenning Cogan, a pioneer in the study of history of ophthalmology, the Society sponsors a yearly meeting.
